Westwind approached Subliminal Media to both test their new line of DV gear and produce a short corporate informercial they could use online and for special presentations.
We developed a script treatment, cast the actors, and assembled a small crew. In two casual evenings we shot the commercial, as well as a guided tour by the President, interviews with the entire staff, and a great deal of B-roll. Using Westwind's gear, we edited the infomercial and encoded it in a variety of formats and bitrates.
After completing the project, Subliminal Media made a presentation to the Westwind staff, comparing and analyzing the various cameras and software used. Westwind not only receieved miniDV masters of all footage and edited versions, but a complete set of ready-to-use Quicktime and RealVideo encodes for presentational, CD-ROM, and Web use. Subliminal Media continues to consult for Westwind Computing.

Production Notes.
Shot to miniDV on location with available light using a Canon XL-1 and its standard on-board shotgun mic. Edited via FireWire with Final Cut Pro 1.01 on a G3. Though mastered at NTSC DV quality, the final piece was intended for streaming Quicktime served from the client's Quicktime server.
Alternate masters were prepared in additional formats, variable bitrates, and with multiple resolutions including full screen kiosk mode, and standard CD-ROM. VHS and NTSC-DV archival masters were also generated.
